# Maintain Market Indices and Market Index Values

## Overview tab

The overview tab gives you access to the details of the market index, as well as a list of spot and current forward-curve market index values. For regular market indices, there is the option to turn it into a [Protected Market Index](https://docs.dataloy.com/voyage-management-system/step-by-step-guides/chartering/market-indices/protected-market-indices), while a [Custom Market Index](https://docs.dataloy.com/voyage-management-system/step-by-step-guides/chartering/market-indices/custom-market-indices) will in its place have a lumpsum adjustment field.

The Last Updated field shows the date of when the most recently updated market index value was updated.

## **Forward Curve tab**

This tab displays a list of all market index values for the index that are categorized as Historical Forward. Read more about the different types of market index values [here](https://docs.dataloy.com/voyage-management-system/step-by-step-guides/chartering/market-indices/market-index-value-types).

## Deleting a Market Index

A Market Index must first be *disabled*. Click the ![](https://content.gitbook.com/content/WoySkL2wtBxvxqGI8yWa/blobs/NO1qV5DP5r2FpXPs57nz/more_vert-24px.svg) button in the top right corner to open the secondary actions. Choose the "Disable" option. Click the ![](https://content.gitbook.com/content/WoySkL2wtBxvxqGI8yWa/blobs/NO1qV5DP5r2FpXPs57nz/more_vert-24px.svg) button again, and then choose the "Delete" option. A confirmation modal will also show up, click Delete.
