# Create a Claim

After clicking the create claim icon from the [claims list](https://docs.dataloy.com/release-8.16/voyage-management-system/step-by-step-guides/claims), a modal will appear (see Figure 1).

The modal displays the essential details of the claim, required and extra fields.\
By proceeding with the claim creation, the [claim drawer](https://docs.dataloy.com/release-8.16/voyage-management-system/step-by-step-guides/claims/claim-drawer) will open, allowing further claim management.
